AppLCC Partnership Report

The Landscape Conservation Cooperatives (LCCs) were created in 2009 and have since developed a variety of conservation decision support tools, prioritization maps, and collaborative projects. The Appalachian Landscape Conservation Cooperative (AppLCC) supports natural and cultural resource conservation across the Appalachian Region. Here, we document some of the successes and lessons learned, as well as opportunities for future growth among regional conservation partnerships. The figures presented here document the perceptions and values of AppLCC partners as of December 2017, on the eve of an institutional transformation. During this period, administrative change began shifting conservation towards different approaches compared to those in place during the LCCs’ inception.

This document is based on extensive participant observation in partnership activities from July 2017 through March 2018 as well as focused key informant interviews during November and December 2017. Questions about the results presented here may be directed to Dr. Madeline Brown at the University of Maryland. A project executive summary and final report can be found here and here respectively.
