Dr. Madeline Brown is an ecological anthropologist whose research focuses on human-environmental dynamics across multiple scales, from community-based resource management to local perceptions of forest restoration processes. She has active projects in Thailand and the United States.

Dr. Brown is an associate professor in the Anthropology Department at the University of Maryland. Prior to joining UMD she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Florida in the Florida Institute for Built Environment Resilience (FIBER) and the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning as well as at Penn State University. Her PhD is in Anthropology from Stanford University.
